I am writing to you guys from our new Magnolia table! We came back from our San Antonio trip yesterday & assembled it later that day. The scallops on this table are adorable, and the charm it gives to this kitchen nook was much-needed. I’ll post some pictures as soon we have the chairs and add a few more touches to the nook. So a few Monday’s ago Miguel and I finished up the backsplash- AKA the 2-month project! It took us a while but we did it! For never laying down tile or doing any kind of tile work before, we are pretty proud of ourselves. We are perfectionist amateurs. Before I show you the after I want to remind you of the before. Do y’all remember what the kitchen used to look like? It had ZERO character, just your typical new home development kitchen. If you don’t remember, let me refresh your memory…
I can’t believe that was our kitchen! It has come so far. I’m really happy we decided to take out that microwave and install a smaller one in the pantry. Side note: if anyone needs a range hood microwave let me know!
Here is the progress of our kitchen now!
We definitely have a ways to go with the wooden range hood project, barn sink, and then installing pendant lights but this kitchen is finally coming together & I LOVE IT! If anyone is considering laying tile down themselves, rent or buy a water saw! I mean, just. do. it. You will HAVE to make cuts around the outlets as well as cutting the tile in half to create that staggered look so definitely recommend renting or buying one. We rented ours from Home Depot multiple times and it was worth it. Choosing grout color was the hardest decision! Initially, I wanted a dark grout but Miguel said no, sooooo we were undecided on white or light gray and ended up choosing the light gray to give the tile some contrast. 1 project down, so many to go!
Next project will be revisiting the range hood. That sucker is definitely an eye sore and we just need to get it done. I was thinking we could have our house-warming party next month, but that was just wishful thinking. Soon guys! I promise!
Another side note: I love this new look for the blog. I feel like my personal and home style has evolved so the blog should reflect that as well. What do y’all think?!
Personal side note:
Thank you to everyone for all the warm wishes and prayers regarding my grandmother passing away last week. It has been understandably difficult for my mom and we just appreciate all the love.
Thank you guys so much, y’all are the best.
