Yesterday we celebrated Luna’s 4th and Diego’s first birthday!! Where has the time gone?! I adopted Luna 4 years ago and she was the absolute best puppy. Yeah, she had her moments where she was a little crazy (like running down the street like a crazy dog and me chasing after her like a crazy person) but honestly, she was the best and is my favorite (sorry Diego). She is the messiest drinker, she loves giving kisses, chasing kitty cats, and is obsessed with peanut butter. She was my flower girl for our wedding and honestly is like the love of my life, next to Miguel of course.
Look at that face! All the heart eyes.
Diego is like that second child that was a tornado. Like, you had a great first kiddo so your second by karma has to be a mess. And, he was. Y’all know that we thought we were adopting a black lab but with shelters you never really know what you are getting and Diego turned out to be a Labradane. (Labrador with Great Dane) Yeah. I KNOW. He was such a hard puppy to potty train, he had multiple episodes of diarrhea in his crate, it was everywhere. I specifically remember crying at 3am cleaning up his crate and giving him a bath and I did not want to wake Miguel because it was my night. We would rotate nights if Diego woke up during the middle of the night (which he always did). But, eventually it got better and he is house trained now. He loves to eat, talk back, bite his sisters ears, and use his size to his advantage. Diego is the definition of an annoying little brother. But, I love that nugget.
While Diana was over taking pictures, Diego came running towards me and Luna and his balloon snapped off and was a goner. He was a mess tied up in the string, it was adorable. Typical Diego! I’ve baked cakes before for Luna’s birthday but she never really liked them, I would add peanut butter on top but she would end up just licking the peanut butter off the cake. Well, I found a dog birthday cake recipe on Pinterest from The Almond Eater and decided to give it a try. Guys, it was so easy to put together I even added some shredded carrots and the kiddos loved it! Luna gobbled it down, I gave them about 3 tiny slices each and they were crying for more! It was probably the easiest cake I have ever baked and I stacked the two 4 inch cakes together and it didn’t topple over!
Celebrating the tiny victories!!

It’s obvious that we love our kiddos, they are our babies before we have babies. We would do anything for these two and I think it is important to treat your fur ones like family. I know you guys agree! They love you unconditionally, are always so stinking happy when you come home, and can easily make you smile when you need it most.
How have you celebrated your fur babies birthday?
